Welcome to the Military Police Regimental Walkway Digital Showcase

By: CSM (R) Tony McGee

The Military Police Regimental Walkway and Memorial Grove has come a long way over the past three years. You can visit the Grove just about any time of day when the weather is nice and you will see people of all ages paying homage to our Regiment's heroes as well as all MPs past, present and future. That's what it is all about. MPRA's effort to call attention to the men and women of our ranks has really paid off. If you were to visit the grove today you would see a bronze crossed pistol archway that has become known as the "Gateway to the Regiment". You would see 13 granite benches that have been dedicated and many display the names of Soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Nearly 4500 bricks have been installed that honor the individual Soldier as well as units. You would be able to find any brick by simply punching the name in to the state of the art kiosk that rest beneath the newly installed gazebo. It's truly an amazing and awe inspiring place.

The best is yet to come. In 2010 the Military Police Regimental Association Nation Board of Directors will oversee the installation of an over 10 foot high bronze replica of the World War II era MP Soldier who is directing traffic on the battlefield in the "Of the Troops and for the Troops" art piece. Two additional walls will be installed for units to dedicate plaques and a bridge will install over the culvert that runs through the grove. More bricks will be installed as well as benches and the dedication of trees. Lights will be installed throughout the Grove all of this can be observed or visited during the hours of darkness. The work has already started and the phase 4 dedication will be in September during the memorial tribute.

I encourage you to visit the Grove or at least take the virtual tour that is offered here on our web page. I think you will agree that our beloved Grove without a doubt represents the very best of our young men and women.
