Job description: The Director of Military and Veterans Affairs (Director) leads and oversees the Department in all planning and execution of the organization’s mission and goals, from both the strategic and operational levels. The Department has 38 personnel and an operating budget of $6.5 million. At the strategic level, the Director is expected to know of the various local, state, and federal level veteran-oriented organizations, establish relationships and exercise rapport with elected officials and other important stakeholders, interact with State legislators and help influence the creation of positive legislation for veterans and their families, as well as serve as the Board’s key advisor in all matters related to veterans and the programs that the Department oversees.

Of utmost importance is also the expectation that the Director will think creatively and actively lead innovative and inspiring veteran initiatives through various public and private partnerships within the County that will have a positive and long-term impact on our veterans.
