In October, the Military Police Regimental Association welcomed a new Gift Shop manager. Janet Guevara officially joined the MPRA team in January of 2019 as a sales associate and during the first week of October, she was named as the new manager to replace former manager Corina O’Barr.

“Corina O’Barr did an exceptional job for years with our gift shop. She helped implement many changes that made us more efficient and relevant with our customers. She leaves big shoes to fill, but we have no doubt Janet is up for the challenge. Janet has been a strong member of our team for almost two years and we know the gift shop is in good hands,” said MPRA executive director Rick Harne.

Initially, Guevara was hired to assist in the gift shop. She helped customers with purchases, stocked shelves, and ran mobile gift shops at Military Police graduation events. Eventually, she began working closer with the membership mission of the gift shop. She processed all new memberships, ensured lifetime members were sent appropriate membership cards, and kept the membership list up to date.

“I love my job! I enjoy working with our customers, taking care of purchase orders, ensuring we have good pictures of the items in our gift shop, and creating promotions and sales with our customers in mind,” said Guevara.

Guevara has been a military spouse for over two decades and has four children, including one who is serving in the U.S. Army. Her husband is a combat medic and they’ve been stationed around the world, including Camp Pendleton and Naval Station Great Lakes when he was in the Navy, and Forts Leonard Wood, Campbell, Polk, and Wiesbaden, Germany during his time in the Army.

As Guevara’s husband prepares to retire next year, the family has purchased a home in the Fort Leonard Wood Region and will be retiring in the area. They are originally from the Chicago area, so they appreciate that their chosen retirement home is relatively close to friends and family.
